Upset Using Post Mount Disc brake on I.S. fork

    All,

I have a Hope Mini front disc brake designed for use with a Manitou (post mount) fork. I now want to use that brake on a Spicer Ti rigid fork with I.S. mounts. I bought a Hayes adaptor expecting that it would allow me to do so, but something still isn't lining up. When I just use the adaptor and the brake the stock rotor rubs on the brake as if the rotor is too big a diameter for the set up. I put some 2mm spacers in between the brake and the adaptor and that problem is solved, but now it rubs at all times.

At this point I'm perplexed. Anybody have any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

    Thanks

    Mike

Is your Hope rotor a 165mm? The Hayes adapters are for 160mm rotors. You may need the official Hope adapter.

The rotor is 165mm, but shouldn't the adaptor replicate the position of the post mounts? If so, the mini should still use the 165mm rotor it uses on a Manitou fork. The problem is Hope doesn't use an adaptor - you'r supposed to buy a new caliper half, drain the fluid, take the who thing apart, rebuild and rebleed. By the time I do all that I may as well buy a new brake.
