Is there such thing as Cantilever pads?

I am rebuilding an old (1989-1992?) mountain bike with cantilever brakes.
I saw that there are v-brake pads, cantilever pads, and some pads that are compatible with both.
So... is there such thing? Or can I buy any pad that fits the cantilevers?

Yes, there are cantilever specific pads. Some canti brake pads did not have a threaded post, others did.

Ok, but as long as the post fits the brake, is the size/shape/compound the same?

No. There are many different compounds and different pad shapes. You can use whatever you want as long as it fits.

The Kool Stop Eagle Claw II is probably the most common (for a good reason) canti pad and is available in both post and threaded.
