swapping wheels w/BB7 rotors with 201? Avid Elixer 1 rotors Compatible?

    Hi,

I am about to pull the trigger on a 2013 Santa Cruz Superlight 29. The Superlight comes with Avid Elixer 1 brakes. (Not sure if these come with 2012 Elixers or 2013). My old ride, a 2009 model 29er has BB7 brakes, but the wheels are upgraded. So, I want to swap out the new wheels on the Superlight with the wheels from my old rig.

Are the rotors compatible with the other manufacturer? That's the key question.

Can I slide the wheel in or will i have to swap the rotors to the other wheels?

A possible problem: I don't know if what rotor mounting system is used with the Superlight. My old rig uses a centerlock on the rear and the front uses a 6 hole.

    Cheers.
    So Cal Rod

If the rotors are the same size, everything should be cool. Besides, BB7's are Avid brakes, so there's no brand issue there. If the rotors aren't the same size, you'll either have to change mounting adaptors on the calipers or swap rotors.
