    Stupid question of the day

I am thinking to get XTR M988 but they only seem to come (at least in the US) in left/front right/rear combination. To avoid switching the lever would it be ok to just flip them (so the reservoir is under) It would look a bit odd but just wondering if it would effect how they work?

You may be able to order from Bluesky or Chainreaction and get the combo you want. I think the Euro standard is opposite from US.

HitmenOnlyInc is correct I believe, but for the price you'll pay for XTR, I'd look at Hopes for a true Flip-flop lever (and much better brake).
Alcohol may lead nowhere, but it sure is the scenic route!

Thank you both for the suggestions, the Hope Race Evo X2 is the other candidate, but I am leaning toward Shimano. Price is about the same if one shops around a bit.
Still curious to know if one can just flip the lever ... probably yes besides the hugly looking result ...

Shimano brake levers cannot be be run upside down, your only option would be to get the hoses swapped over, or as HitmenOnlyInc said, order them like that.
I don't crash, I just have slightly uncontrolled dismounts!

You'll probably have to trim the hoses anyway so why not just swap them over at the same time? Give 'em a bleed and you'll be good to go.
