    Shorten hydraulic brake hose?

I have some Shimano BR-555 brakes with BH-60 hoses. I would like to shorten the front hose so it's not in the way of the front fender I just bought. It seems I have plenty of extra hose length to do this but looking at my instruction manual there's no mention of how or whether you can even do it. Can it be done?

Too bad I have SM-BH-60 hose which isn't listed and I assume it isn't cutable. My brakes are two years old and they probably come with the SM-BH-61 hoses now.. Oh well thanks for the info.
