    shimano xt question

hi, i have some shimano xt discs. When i purchased them i got the small rotors for the front and rear. I have started hitting some bigger descents as of late and feel the xt's dont have enough power.

Will buying a larger front rotor get me more stopping power? or do i need a new brand of brake? If i go bigger on the rotor does it come with the proper adaptor to make my brake fit it?

    thank you,

    chris

A larger front rotor will for sure increase your power. You will need to get an adapter, which is not part of the rotor purchase. You will need to discover what fork mounts you have, IS or post. Post mounts are threaded, and point in toward the fork leg. IS are just holes, and you can look through them and see the wheel. You match your new rotor size and the type of mounts you have. Eg - 180mm, post.

The XT are also not a very powerful brake, XC light stuff.

Try the rotors, if that is not enough you might want to upgrade.
