Shimano XT M785 IceTech Disc Brake

If I purchase the XT M785 Ice Tech Brake levers and calipers do I also need to purchase Ice Tech Rotors? I did a quick search and couldn't find anything stating either way but a sale on the ends soon so......

They come with adaptors. Why the need for new rotors?

I put the m785 on my Rumblefish to replace the Elixer 5 brakes, and I re-used the rotors. You may need to change out the mounting adapters. I had to change my front adapter, and install shims to work with the 185mm front Avid Rotor. I plan to upgrade the front rotor as well, just to be able to remove the shims.

Bottom line, if you have Avid's now, with a 185mm front, you will need adapters and will need to make 2 shims between 1/8 and 1/4 thick to space the caliper further away from the front rotor. Otherwise, you are probably good to go with your old rotors.
