Shimano XT M785 caliper with an XTR M988 lever?

I've read of mixing Shimano brake parts (i.e. Saint & XTR) - my question is why? Saving cost or weight? Don't like servowave? Performance?

Anyway, the Shimano site gives detailed parts lists, so that should answer the OPs question.

    Hi !

Is that I got a pair of new 2012 xt calipers... and just recently purchased only the levers xtr m988 , Im trring to keep cost as low as possible for now...

been told that the xt caliper is a OK caliper... not a xtr but Ok.. Im not concern on weight saving goes...

Have you done this set up ? would you know if it will work ?

    thanks in advance !
