Shimano Ice Tech pads in Hope Calipers?
Not that I have a problem with fade or heat dissipation, but has anyone tried the Ice Tech pads with cooling fins in their M4's? I know that shimano pads have worked with M4's before, but I don't know if the new pads have changed dimensions.
They LOOK like they'd fit:

I should be able to help you out on this one as soon as my M820 Saints show up in the mail. I have Shimano M755 brakes on my bike right now which use the same brake pads as the M4, if the Ice-tech pads fit in those it should fit fine in the M4. Parcel tracking says the package made it into town yesterday so I should have them by tomorrow or early next week. Hopefully tomorrow.

I asked this same question a while back. My understanding is they will fit. Same width and the pin hole is in the same place.
-
Just got my M820 Saints in. The Saint Ice-tech pads will NOT fit in the M755 calipers. The Saint pads are longer and will not go into the slot.
-
Can you post a picture of both pads side by side? I'd like to see the difference
-
Definitely bigger. Same height since I guess Shimano wanted to keep rotor compatibility, but they're a little bit longer.

Nothing a dremel or sanding drum can't fix.
-
Oh well . . . that's a bummer. I don't know that I'd go to the effort of modifying them to fit.

Part numbers are different between the Saint M820 and the new XT M785s. Saints appear to use H03C pads as your picture but SLX/XT/XTR use F03C. Both are metallic... both are Icetech. Looking at the F03C pictures really make the pads look more like the Hope pads than the new Saints you have up there.

The SLX/XT/XTR pads are not long enough. They're very short compared to Saint and Hope pads. Also the hole is too high.

If you're going to go through the effort to change pads, why not go to an EBC pad for the hopes? You don't need the fins and the EBC is a much better pad than the shaminos. Cool idea, too bad it didn't fit though.

I use brake authority and am super happy with them. Was more just thinking out loud than actually wanting to switch.

Cool, how do you like their pads?

The only two pads I've run are the stock Hope organics and the BA "Aggressive" compound. The BA pads are certainly superior to the stock pads. They have lots of initial bite but leave plenty of room for modulation. I don't suspect that they get any hotter than the stock pads do, but I've really no idea. Here in SoCal, where its dry and dusty virtually year round, the BA's are an exceptional pad. I can honestly say that I've got almost 1K miles on this current set and there's at least 30-40% pad left. This includes riding descents that drop you over 2K feet in about 5 miles on a regular basis (i.e., 2x weekly). I'm very, very happy with them. They are somewhat pricey, and the ONLY place I've found that sells them online is Chain Reaction Cycles.

At somepoint I may give them a go. I do like the EBC reds, tons of bite and seem to last quite well.

They were also on my short list of pads to try . . .
