    Shimano Calipers with Cotter Pins

Are these calipers (SLX, Zee, etc) threaded for regular pad fixing pins as well?

Yes. I replaced the cotter pins on my SLX calipers with threaded pad retention pins and clips. Got them here. Went with the ones for $4, as they have the hex head, rather than the slotted.

The Zee is threaded for a pad retention bolt, I stole one from a spare set of M755 calipers I had and put it in there. The M596 Deore on the other hand isn't threaded for a bolt, you'll have to run a tap through the hole to cut some threads into it.
