    Shimano Caliper replacement question?

Current brake setup is BL-M975 XTR levers and BR-M775 XT calipers.
My rear caliper has a leaking piston seal. Time to replace it.
CRC has the new 2013 Deore BR-M596 caliper for a decent price shipped to me.

Will the Deore M596 caliper work as a replacement for the failed M775?

I'm hoping to be able to just unbolt the hose from the old M775 and install the new M596 in it's place. The hose should be the same size I hope. Straight connectors, no banjos on both calipers.

I believe most shimano calipers use the same diameter pistons. I have a couple sets of mixed shimano brakes and all work
    equivalently.

    Shimano Caliper replacement question?

Should work just fine. The 596 is just a slightly revised 775 caliper(internally). Externally, they changed quite a bit though to cut costs etc. I'm guessing power and modulation will be right on par though.

Or just replace the caliper. Ebay has several last time i checked.

That's what I am asking about doing. Replacing the failed BR-M775 caliper with a 2013 BR-M596 caliper. My XTR levers are still going strong, and I don't want to buy an entire rear brake setup if I can simply spend less than $40 for a new caliper. My question is if it will work/fit.

Seems like the answer is yes so far.

With another BR-M775 i meant. Or whatever is cheaper. Shimano calipers for the most part will play with other Shimano levers just fine. The fittings are the key.

I got the Deore 596 caliper for $40 shipped to me. Not too bad. Comes with new resin pads as well.

My current setup has the straight connector into the caliper for the hose. No banjo fittings.
My hope is that I will be able to unscrew the connector, and install into the new caliper. I'll be pissed if for some reason Shimano decided to change that hole or thread for some reason. Looks identical on pictures.

Turns out the part I'm asking about is called the shroud nut.
Can I reuse the shroud nut, olive and barb that is in the M775 caliper in the M596 caliper? My brake line should be BH59.

    Shimano Caliper replacement question?

You can reuse the shroud nut, but not the olive and barb. They are a single use item. If you reuse those, it'll have a high chance of just leaking again. Get a new olive and barb when you replace the caliper, and make sure you put a little grease on the threads of the shroud nut. And don't forget to bleed them when you're done!
