I'm building up a new bike, with polished silver accents and a nuVinci n360 (which requires a giant twist shifter). For these reasons, I'd like a set of Shimano silver brake levers with a long reach. The Alfines fit this bill.
Unfortunately, they're also really hard to find. I can get the front and rear 2014 Deore M615s together for $140 (shipped), but they're black with short levers. MSRP on the Alfine S700s is $130 for each side, and basically everywhere has to special order them, so I can't find a good deal.
As I understand it, Deore is an upgrade from Alfine, so I'm going to feel like a real chump if I end up spending twice as much for a lesser brake, but I really think the Alfines will go better with my bike.
Does anybody know a place to get a good price on a Shimano special order? Here are the part numbers:
