    Rotor size/pad contact question...

Hi all, hope you can help me out here...so, I have fox 36 180 Float fork, with post mount made to mount the caliper directly to the fork, no adapter. My previous brakes were Juicy 7's with 203 mm rotors. Upgraded to 2012 Elixir 9's, with 200mm rotor. since the rotor is smaller, and I can't move the the caliper closer with an adapter, not as much of the pad contacts the rotor as the old brakes (about 1.5 mm I would assume). Is this ok, ie., will I get less performance out of them, or should I put the old 203 mm rotor back on?
    Thanks!

I wouldn't think 1.5mm would affect it that much. You can switch back to the old rotors, but with newer rotors comes newer technology and better braking performance. I'm not sure I've heard of a 200mm rotor. Is this a new standard Avid is experimenting with or have I just been living under a 203mm rock?

It is the new avid standard. they're doing 160, 180, and 200 for 2012.

On a related question: anybody tried running 180 rotors on Avid 185 calipers, and what adjustment have you made?
