Rotor size 160/185 Avid Juicy Ultimate

    I am 6ft 1" 190lbs

trying to decide on rotor size for new bike built

not sure if to go with

    185/160, leaning towards this setup

Look at various mfr websites and its a 50-50 split between the 2.

I've been running Avid BB7s with 185/160 f/r rotors, and have been very happy with them. The price and weight difference is negligible, so why not have the extra stopping power of the 185 up front?

It's not about speed, it's about lack of control.

I was in the same situation on my FS build. I skipped on the 185/160 in favor of a 185/185 BB7. They were the same price off of Ebay.

It all depends upon how you ride. If you're a conservative or intermediate rider, save the weight and go with the 160's. If you're gonzo and do long downhills where you stand on the front brake while going into corners, get the larger rotor.
