    Rotor recomendations

My bike is equipped with Shimano SLX brakes and I need to replace the rotors. Should I stay with Shimano brand rotors or are there better options?

There are certainly some better options out there, but the question is whether or not there is any significant improvement in performance. My gut tells me . . . . no. Unless you're not happy with the shimano's, then just get them again. In terms of power/performance, you'll notice bigger differences when swapping pads.

Why do you need to replace the rotors?
Alcohol may lead nowhere, but it sure is the scenic route!

THanks for the reply. I think I'll stick with the Shimano rotors. All of my old bikes had Avids and I loved them compared to the SLX brakes but I think a big part of that is because they had larger rotors. I am thinking about going to 180mm on the front. I need to replace one of my rotors because it took a hit and got bent.

I run Avid HS1 rotors with my SLX brakes. They work pretty well and are lighter than the Shimano rotors.

I've had good luck with the avid clean sweep rotors and the alligator windcutters
