RECOMMENDATIONS -- Sealed Continuous Brake Cable/Housing System
I'm setting up a commuter with TRP CX8.4 brakes, and as I ride a lot in the rain, I want to run a continuous brake cable system. It's a singlespeed bike, so I am interested ONLY in a brake cable/housing system. I've used Jagwire Ripcord, and was very happy with its durability and smoothness, but there are now so many other contenders, I'd like to get some input before I purchase another system.
My first priority is RELIABILITY, and I don't really care if I save 10 or 20 grams of weight, or $25 or more on the system. I do not have to make any extreme bends... Rust, ano job deterioration, gunk buildup, etc. are obvious no no's. Lastly, I'd rather have a bit more weight if there's more of a bling factor for a particular cable set. For example, Nokon's anodized aluminum housing is beautiful, but does it stay beautiful, and most importantly, does it perform well?
I can't find a SHOOTOUT anywhere... What's the best up until now? Power Cordz, Shimano XTR, Gore Ride On, Nokon, Nokon carbon (if and when), Alligator i-Links, Yokozuna, Jagwire Ripcord, Dry Cables, ...?
Help, and thank you very much for your input!![]()
