just set up a set of used XTR V-brakes on my old vintage setup with Canti's. Pads are fairly worn so I thought I should replace them. What do ppl recommend? Stock Shimano or third party compound?
Kool Stops MTB pad is what I just replaced my stuff with, and it is very quiet and grippy. Been very impressed with this purchase. I use SD7's with Kool Stop MTB pads and that is working great.

I liked the kool stop ones also. I heard they have the best stopping power also. But I held off on getting them because I was scared that they might ware down my rim faster(one decision why i am going to disc). Better stopping power==quicker wear on rim. can't have your cake and eat it to, right?
