just set up a set of used XTR V-brakes on my old vintage setup with Canti's. Pads are fairly worn so I thought I should replace them. What do ppl recommend? Stock Shimano or third party compound?

Ritchie black pads, a way noticeable improvement over the XTRs, they don't fade on the long steep downhills and they are squeak resistant.

I liked the kool stop ones also. I heard they have the best stopping power also. But I held off on getting them because I was scared that they might ware down my rim faster(one decision why i am going to disc). Better stopping power==quicker wear on rim. can't have your cake and eat it to, right?
