Really noisy new brakes- any ideas?

I replaced my brakes with Hayes Prime Pros yesterday. Everything set up easily and I went for a short ride. 7 miles, low speeds, a lot of stops, each stop the brakes got better and better...
    NO NOISE AT ALL.
I got home and was very happy with my new brakes. I set my bike against the wall in the living room and went about other things.

But today, just testing them out in my living room a bit, my brakes consistently make the most heinous noise I have ever heard. What gives?
    Bring it.

What sort of living room tests were you performing?

Hahah...walking next to the bike and applying the brakes. So, very low speeds, obviously. It's been raining, so no actual riding.

I'd give it another try on the trail or at speed. I don't have Hayes brakes, but my BB7s will sometimes scream at low speeds when I working on the bike. But, they shut up on the trail or when riding at normal speeds. Similar thing with my shimano SLX brakes.

Probably caused by a combination of things like a cold rotor, cold pads, the low speed rotation of the rotor and a low amount of pressure that the pads are putting on the rotor.

If you don't have this problem when riding then you probably haven't got anything to worry about.

Cool, thanks for the input. Hoping the rain tapers off and I can test them out "for real" again soon.
