Putting Rear Avid Disc on Front

This may be a stupid idea, but I want to try to put my avid rear disc brake on the front. I bought a hayes hmx-1 for the front, but it sucks, so I want to run the rear I bought up front, until I can afford a new one.

    Is this possible?

Yes, you simply need the standard front caliper cps, and then you just switch them out.

The Avd and Hyes adapters should be interchangable. You *should* be able to transfer the Avd caliper & CPS washers to the front Hays adapter, and the Hyes caliper to the rear Avd adapter, provided they're both 160mm (or Avd's old 165mm) rotors.

Sweet! I'll see if the Hayes adaptor will work.

    It's a sweet combo indeed...

The Avd is all about power and the Hayez has decent power but sweet modulation. IMO, you have a winning combo in there. You'd have to spend like 300 bucks for a real upgrade (that would be some high end hydros)
