    IS to Post

Just bought a set of 09 sids with post mount, but since my 07 xtr disc were on an old (06)set of IS mount sids I seem to need an 160mm IS to post mount adaptor but can't seem to find one? Why on earth is this?,

    I found this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=13744
Shimano adaptor to mount a 51mm international standard caliper to a 74mm post mount fork to accomodate a 170mm disc.
but considering the xtr disc doesn't even seem to come in 170mm it'd be pretty useless.

Anyone care to shed some light on this please? Am I missing something obvious?

The adapter adds height to the assembly, so you have to use a larger rotor to get the proper pad contact.

There are some old 6 bolt 170mm Shimano rotors running around.

How about buying a 180mm rotor (more common) and using a stack of washers, probably about 5-6mm high, under the adapter?

there are adapters for that..... Shimano only makes the 170mm adapter, but Hope, for instance, does make a +20mm adapter to use a 180mm rotor
