    Pads for old XT V-brakes

Anyone know if replacement pads currently available are compatible with old XT V-brakes circa 1996-97? Haven't had to replace them till now!

    Take em to the LBS

I am assuming you are talking about the cartridge style where there is pin holding in the rubber part of the pad...pull the pin and slide out the pad...take it to you LBS.

Yup, this is the type. I try to avoid the LBS, but I guess I can ask for advice. Wonder if the replacements for the current XT Vbrakes pads will work on the old ones?

Cartridge pads are cartridge pads. They bolt on like block pads, and you don't re-adjust when you're replacing the inserts. Online stores will carry the inserts, my personal fave is the koolstop dual compound. I find them to be much nicer than the shimano stuff, but they'll still fit in the pad holder.
