    Novice Brake Question

    I have a Gary Fisher Cobia on order and the bike comes with Promax Hornet hydraulic brakes. I guess they are not as popular or proven like some of the other manufacturer brands, so my question is;

    If I have problems with the brakes and wanted to go with a different brand, would I be able to change them out to another brand without having mounting or fit issues ? If I changed the calipers would the hand brakes have to change as well ?

    Thanks - Rick

    The mountings will be the same on most brakes. Yes, you would usually have to change the lever as well. You can find good hydraulic brakes for around $100 an end.

    Thanks for the info. I need to learn all about the hydraulic brakes once I get the bike. I was just concerned since I could not find much information on the Promax brakes on line.

    As long as I would be able to change them out if they did become a problem, then it is not a big concern.

    Thanks - Rick
