    New XT stiff

Just shortened my brake cables on my new XT brakes and the front brake lever is really stiff/hard when pulling. I followed the directions from the shimano site (how to shorten without bleeding) and the rear worked fine but the front is not. The pads are not tight on the rotor spacer and when i pull the lever they engage fine, there is just not much play on the handle and it is a very stiff pull. I took out the bleed screw on the lever to let out any extra fluid, and some seeped out, but it did not do anything. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

Did you push the hose in all the time while tightening it to the lever?

No i did not. Should i undo it and re-tighten it while holding it in place?
