    Which new disc brake pads?

    Hi all,

I'm wonder what is the 'shiz' these days in brake pads.

I got '03 Avid Mechs, 160mm rotors. I do mostly XC in hilly areas, but I weigh nearly 200#. I'm looking for something with mad grab, and no squeek. I can live with short-ish life (1/2 season) if it means that I change rotors less often.

I've had good luck w/ EBC stuff. They make different compounds so you can figure out which "color" you'd like. I think red is high friction, short life. Green is average for both. Gold is quite metallic, long lasting, and not really for use unless the system came w/ metallic pads. I could be wrong on the descriptions though. Good luck
