New bike - upgrade brake levers for now?

Hi, I just picked up a '09 Jamis Dakar XC which uses Shimano M416 disc calipers and Tektro ML-330 levers. I am wanting to upgrade to Avid BB7 185F/160R with the SD7 levers, but decided on wearing out the current pad/rotor before I upgrade to the BB7.

I am wondering if I will feel a difference if I just upgrade to the SD7 levers? The current Tektro feels horribly cheap and heavy.

    Thanks,
    Anthony

I doubt you're going to feel any lighter by replacing the levers... but a decent lever can improve the feel of the brakes. Clean cut housing with a lubed cable will also improve the feel.
