need help: avid elixir cr problem

    guys i need your help.

newbie here. ive had my brakes for about 5 months already. so far, aside from the loud sound it creates whenever i squeeze the lever, i am quite satisfied with its performance. however, my front brake (elixir cr) had a significant decrease in stopping power the past couple of weeks. i tried turning the pad contact adjuster (red knob) hoping that it will solve the problem. after a while, i saw some oil literally dripping from the adjuster knob.

    anyone had this problem?

    thanks in advance.

You have a leak. You'll have to find the source of it, fix it, and rebleed.

elixir cr's are crap the levers are cheaply made and fail easily. i had a pair a rode them a few months and loved them. than the problems both front and rear levers started leaking like a siv. got new replacements from sram and they still are sitting in a box never put them back on i brought formula MEGA's best brakes ever, at least that i have owned. you can go thru your lbs and sram should replace them if they are not too old, then good luck i guess.
