A Must Know if Buying New Bike Equip. w/ SRAM Brakes

After you have negotiated the price, as one final request you must demand that they switch out the SRAM brakes for Shimano otherwise the deal is OFF. If everyone does this, maybe SRAM will get the message it is not okay to rip off customers with products that patently do not work.

I am on my 3rd pair of XX and after 2 months the new ones have begun to squeal due to a sticky piston that will not unstick itself.

These brakes are the worst. Unfortunately I have to now spend $700 to buy XTRs to replace what should have worked on my new bike.

    You have been warned.

Besides having bad luck, you are getting ripped off with those XTR brakes. I do prefer shimano over sram though.

I've said this before, but I'd like to offer to anyone unhappy with worthless SRAM brakes, send them my way. I'll happily send you a postage paid box to ship them in.

SRAM has hit a rough patch with their brakes recently. But things are looking better. I will say that the XX brake is a world class brake, for world class athletes, with a world class mechanic. If that's not you, look elsewhere in their line. The best performing parts will always require more maintenance and care, sometimes that includes replacement. SRAM as a whole makes pretty good stuff and stands behind it better than anybody else in the industry IMPO. I wouldn't give up on them just yet.
