    more rotor painting

just another project to kill some time

remove rotors with a t25 torx

clean with rubbing alcohol, prep is key

mask off brake track and mounting holes

oops old can of white paint is no good

time for a trip, got some safety yellow

elaborate weather guard and wire setup. spray light coats and alternate strokes for each coat. i wait 5 mins between each coat. light spots are ok just remember light coats to avoid drips

drying, will add a few more coats later

remove tape, i was more concerned with masking off the backside of the mounting holes because i did not want any interference with the mounting.

    inspecting the goods

    put the screws back in

    finished

You should have probably put small corks in the rotor holes because you can see the outline of square tape. But other than that its pretty cool.

pretty cool, i didn't mask the mounting holes and did not have any issues reinstalling the rotors

I guess I'm glad they're not white...although I've got to say even white would look better.

I wasn't sure about the yellow but after seeing the rest of your bike the colour rally suits it and looks stunning well done.

I've also made some rotor painting for my girlfriend's bike.

If I will not find a skewer with corresponding color, I will paint it also

Use engine paint or gunkote rather than krylon exterior enamel

the paint hold up perfectly fine even after long descents where the the rotors heat up. I used paint meant for the rims of cars and its held up good for the past couple of months

I have the same frame and I love it! I've never seen a seat mount like that - what is it called?

I might go the other direction with my rotors and paint them black. I plan to black out my entire bike at some point and I might as well start with the rotors.

    Nice work!

    factory paint

I just installed a Rockshox Pike 454 with 20 mm thru axle. so I had to built a new front wheel. I also replace the rotor to fit the new hub. The Frame KHS AM2000, wheels Mavic D 321 and rotor XTR 8 " center lock are all factory painted semi flat gun metal grey.

They kind remind me of the plastic spinners folks used to put on their honda civic to give it some bling.
