more power for disc brake ????

I have a front disc brake on my bike (low end shimano) and i have the impression it is not giving me full power after a complete adjustment ( I would like to "lock" the front wheel for some trial rides i am able to do so on my othe bikes)

would changing the pads to some resin or organic pads give me some more grabbing power ? I have metallic or semi metallic as of now

Sintered metallic and semi-metallic pads generally provide MORE power. A larger rotor will provide more stopping force but your best bet is pick up a set of Avid BB7's for mechanicals
