    mixing pads?

so what's the word on mixing pads? used/new, front/rear?

i just picked up my bike from the lbs who did a warranty replacement on a m785 leak. they replaced the entire rear brake, lever/hose/caliper. i originally thought my pads were shot so had bought a set of resin pads to replace before i discovered the leak and took it in to the shop. so now i have a new set of metal pads on the rear and the used metal pads on the front.

i know the best thing is to buy new metal pads and put them on so i have all new pads. but i'm cheap and i already have a set of resin pads sitting here. soooooo.... here's what i've got.

    new metal pads
    used metal pads
    new resin pads

    where would you put what?

Depends on the riding you do as far as what kind of pads you want to use, but you don't want to mix old pads with new, especially if they have been compromised with oils, brake fluids or even touching.

Have you tried both to see which one you like best? On Hope's I use a red metal compound and I really like it, but I cannot comment on xt metal pads. I would think they would be the same, but with servo wave, and how it feels, that is a new ballgame.

I would go with the new Metal pads. In my experience, they have the best stopping power/performance. If they make noise/squeel, and I cold not cure the problem, then I would go with the new resin pads after all the other things are done.
