Metallic pads on shimano resin-only rotors?

... so I did it anyway. The box said resin pads only, and I ran them with hayes stroker metallic pads.

They have no power and they SCREAM. My fault, im not complaining about the rotors or pads or brakes. Im really curious why they dont work though! Is it a softer rotor alloy?

Obviously this setup doesnt work. Is my best option to buy resin pads, or to change rotors? Both are affordable options, but Ive ran nothing but metallic pads (on appropriate rotors until now).. not sure how resin pads work/feel in comparison.

They are not heat treated in the same way as other 'metallic-compatible' rotors are. They should still work, however. They would just wear out considerably faster than other rotors.

When I upgraded my M446 brakes to the M785 I kept my rotors on and I had the same issue, grinding and noise. They stated resin pads only on the rotors. I have the metalic on the XT's. I had the RT86's coming in the mail so it was only for a few days but now there is no issue.
