    Mechanical Brake Issue

I built up a new mtn bike with Avid Mechanical Disc brakes. I have noticed an oscillation affect or pulsing sensation when braking. This is hard to describe, but it feels like the brakes are grabbing harder on one part of the rotor making the bike feel like its pulsing when braking hard. I thought it might be the initial break in or maybe something on the rotor but its not.

Sounds like a warped rotor. Have you checked to see how true they are?

Same on my bb7, it was a break in issue. Should go away.

are you aware of proper break in procedure? if not do some research as it is very important not to glaze rotors/pads. my brakes are well broken in but occasionally have the problem you describe, I wipe down rotor with alcohol and all is well.

It's probably just the break in period. Everything is straight and aligned properly. Time will tell.

Make sure the rotor is perfectly clean.
