    mavic v brake rim for disc build

    Are there draw backs of using a Mavic, 217, or 517 to build up a disc wheelset?

    There was an article in Velonews that said the higher the number of a Mavic MTB rim, the stronger/more durable it is.

    Have you tried the CrossRide? I've had them since May, and I like them quite a bit.

    Sometimes the last two digits refers to the width of the rim. Sometimes wider rims are more durable. Mavic changes around their numbers a lot.

    You can lace up a rim-brake rim to disc hubs just fine. You'll just have the added weight of a braking surface.
