    Marta's pistons are sticky! Help!

Yeah, I've done the ole tire lever routine to the pistons on my Marta and have had some success but it's only been temporary: So, alas, the inboard piston on my front brake refuses to retract properly, drags and howls incessantly. Before I send the brake ack in to Magura, anyone have any suggestions other than the tire lever method?

    thanks

    One suggestion...

Do the ole' tire lever thing again, holding one piston back while letting the other extend.
Only this time dab a thin layer of Maggie brake fluid on the piston then push it back in again. Cycle the piston a few times & repeat on the other side.

If that doesn't work then me thinks you need to contact Magura. They're pretty good with emails:
    lonnie@magurausa.com OR
    jimi@magurausa.com

How old are the brakes? The first ones did have some problems with the piston seals being too hard and not allowing the pistons to retract properly but this was usually only during cold weather.

    about a year old.

They came with the magura blood already in their veins, so I believe they were made after that problem with the pistons. could be wrong , though.

If they have the blue fluid then they are later models, the earliest ones had the green fluid which in itself could cause some stickiness.

Finally, I sent them to Magura. They have excellent customer service. I had a warranty issue with them. They sent me a new brake no questions asked.

So, don't knock yourself out, call Magura. Unlike what I did initially...
