Jagwire ripcord or Avid flak jacket?

I'm going BB-7 and forgetting about hydro. Of the kits I'm looking at, one comes with flak jaket for $180. The other has no cables, but if I purchase the jagwire ripcord, it will be about $210 for everything. I already have jagwire derailleur cables so I know they work great. But are they worth the extra $30?

Any advice or experiences will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i just installed the ripcord, it is nice. One problem i had was not enough housing for my xl spec fsr as the housing goes all the way to the rear deralieur, so required about a foot more than the kit had. I phoned jagwire and they were helpful and sent me some in the mail. Endless colors available

The kits are on eBay. That's for 185 front, rear and sd-7 levers. Those prices are for everything you need to upgrade. I'm not sure if I'm going 185 or 203 front though.

picked up a set of SD Ti Levers off ebay saturday for $25.00 New.

LBS hooked me up on BB7 $60.00 each set. And about $20.00 for cables.

$165.00 You can go to price point and get everything for about $160.00 plus shipping.

Odyssey cables are great, I'm runing those on my trials bike. I just like the looks of the jagwire more I guess, and jagwire seal up better. This is going on my do-all 29er so I NEED these to be as element proof as possible.

How does avid flak jaket compare to jagwire as far as water/dust proof? I think I'm just gonna go with what I know and pitch the avid cable idea. My piece of mind is worth the extra $.

@ sxr-racer What size/year rotors did you get for $60 each. The cheapest I'm finding 2011 is $75 for 185 and $80 for 203. My lbs is an hour away and I have not checked it yet, just net surfing.

    185 F/R Pricepoint is at $58.00 ea.

I went up to my LBS and told them straight up that I already had found some at good pricing and that If he could get a good price I would rather give them the money. He did and is getting my money.

Pricepoint for the 2010 BB7's will do the job. It isn't like they change those brakes year to year.

Why are you going with the 185 rear... the 160 will lock the rear at will. Do you do a lot of long descents?

I'm 6'3"/220 and addicted to speed and hard breaking. I've got about a week before I purchase, so I gotta decide 185/160 or 203/185.
I'm building up a set of wheels with shimano m-756 hubs tomorrow, than my purchasing manager(wife) will let me get the brakes. Will these hubs hold up to 203mm rotor and 220lbs of rider?

I'm 6'2", 220 and have zero complaints about my 185/160 BB7's. A light touch with 2 fingers is all I ever need. Of course I live in TX and don't have hour long descents on epic rides.

What fork are you using? Would a 203 be real flexy on a 9mm QR?

I'm set on 185/160, jagwire and sd-7 levers. That 203 on the front seems too sketchy. Thanks everyone for your opinions.

@ NUTT My fork is a Tora race 80mm, for now. And descents are short and twisty around here, so fade is not much of an issue.

So you'd be running a 160 front & 185 rear? That seems a little backwards. Any reason you want to have more braking power on the rear?

    @Curt....

The 185mm might be a better choice for your front given your fork choice.

9mm QR & I'm going to assume a standard build 32 hole, 3 cross wheel with either double butted or straight gauge spokes laced to a pretty tough rim (maybe a Blunt or Flow?).

I don't think the wheel & fork will not be stiff enough to really justify the extra braking power a 203mm front brake. If you had a 15mm or 20mm through axle it would be a different story.

My bike.... we'd be talking 185 front / 160 rear until I'm ready to build up a heavy duty AM rig.

Even if you upgrade the fork to a 15 or 20mm through axle. I'm running 36 hole Hope/Flow front & rear on my hardtail XC/Trail 29er. I have a 9mm QR but am upgrading the fork and might go with a 15 or 20mm TA.
