Are the Ice Tech XTs that much better than the last generation XTs?

Title about says it all. I currently run 2009 XT brakes and was wondering if I'd see any real improvement by upgrading to Ice Tech. Thanks

If you're talking about the entire system (levers/calipers/rotors), then yes. The M775s aren't bad, but the new 785s are excellent, better in just about every way.

If your just talking about the rotors, it depends. The new IceTech style are really good at shedding heat, so you might be able to get away with smaller rotors. But unless you are really pushing the limits of your current rotors you probably won't notice the higher limits of the new ones.

I am a 235lbs DHer and lover the feel of the new ice tech system. I never had a brake fade issue or noise of any kind. Just got a new giant glory 2 and am planning to swap the avid that came on it for my xt's.

Are you in need of improvement for brakes? The new XTs are really nice, but the older ones weren't bad brakes. So could you see an improvement.. probably.
