    howl'in hayes vibration

My hayes rear brake recently started howling, and I can feel vibrations through the bike. It sucks and distracts my brain. I tried cleaning them with isopropyl and it stopped making noise for a couple stops. Also, adjusting the pads helped for a couple stops also. One thing I noticed is it seems like the pads may be contacting the rotor too far to the inside edge, as rub marks can be seen on the rotor arms. Is this the problem? Can it be fixed by tightening up the springs? Any experience with this issue? thanks -t

Ya I had that problem, shuddering but no squel on a 01 SGS DH with horiz. dropouts, anyway the disc tabs in the rear were bolt on being able to move forward or back dependin where you had the axle in the horiz dropouts, I'm thinkin you may be right with your diagnosis but I would think you need to shim your caliper up some with wide enough thin washers, the pad springs won't do anything.
