Hope SS Hose Install w/ Heat Shrink Tubing: This ok?

I just installed a set of stainless steel hoses on my hopes.

I cut the plastic coating away about 1cm up the line to fit the brass olive...may have been a bit much. After putting the connector on over, there is about 2mm or so of bare steel braid exposed before the plastic starts again.

Is that ok, or should it not show at all?

I can't remember if this is the way my last set was (the shop installed them), but I think it was. I can't see it being a big deal, but I wonder?

    Anyone?

You won't have a problem with this; the only drawback is that it looks a bit funny, but everything will be fine.

I have the same thing on my bike: needed to cut it back a lot to be able to slide the various bits up the hose to assemble.

I did the same thing, a piece of heat shrink tubing covered it all up nicely

I was thinking the same thing actually! should keep the water and grime out better than cut clean and not having the tubing.

Well, bought some heat shrink tubing on the way home from work.

Did both ends of both brakes (lever and caliper). Seals everything up air tight, all the fittings and first bit of hose. Should keep things clean. All done and installed. Looks great!

I PM'd the guy who put out the SS hose install guide for hopes a while back and he says he does it regardless. Makes sense to me.

Will have to post some pictures for anyone interested.
