    Hope Rotor help

    Hey
I just ditched my xmax wheels and rim brakes, for some xtr wheels. I am gonna get a set of hope mono mini brakes, but what rotors do i use? the wheels have centerlock. I would like to use a 140 rotor on the back, as this is my xc racing bike. Also what is the deal with hope's new 2 piece rotors? Are they worth buying?

    Thanks
    Max

DT and some other company that I don't recall make a center lock to 6 bolts IS converter.

You can then bolt your 6 holes 140mm Hope rotor for the rear (and front too)

careful when you use Hope Calipers. Hope makes several "sizes" of mono mini's, and they each have a specific use-this chart explains which caliper # you should get if you want to run "160" front and "140" rear.

I use quotes because their version of the "160"(or 6.25"), is actually "165mm", roughly 1/4" larger! And the "140" you want is the same--they make a "145", again 1/4" larger!

hope that's clear...best thing to do is call them up. they are great about cutting custom rotors. but as far as getting 165mm centerlocks, well.....most likely S.O.L.

if you want the hopes, get standard IS hubs.

make sure you get the right caliper for the desired rotor size. in terms of your centerlock hubs running with non centerlock rotors, there is at least one option i am aware of...and can be purchased at http://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...9&category=496

if you were open to 160mm in the back, though I am so very far from an expert, perhaps you could just go with the XTR rotors and sell the hope rotors and not fuss with the adapter since I believe the brake-track on the XTR rotors is almost identical to the Hope Mini rotors so it would likely work very well.

    cheers

I was unaware of that so thanks for that. i would call the guys at Universal perhaps and ask them since they are pretty good guys just to make sure.

    cheers

The DT adaptor for six bolt rotors to centerlock hubs is really trick, way better than the problem solvers. With the DT adaptor you can ditch your rotor bolts and use only the adaptor. Check out the review of it in the tech section of: mbaction.com. I am not sure if it will work with XTR wheels though, check it out with DT: dtswiss.com. They are pretty good at answering tech questions.

The Hope MONO mini uses IS standard rotor sizes (ie 180, 160, 140 etc) unlike the older mini (where they use the 145, 165mm rotors)
