    Hope Model Type Identification

Hello ... newbie to Hope Brakes here ... I got this bike used and it came with Hope brakes. Can anybody tell me the Hope Model type I got ? ( Mini, MonoMini, C2, M4 etc.) Need to know for the basis of ordering replacement pads. See Picture.

What does the "3" mean ?

Does Hope mix and match caliper halfs to get different mountings, but the basic brake is the same ?

    Thanks

    You've got a Mini

I'm not sure what year. The number is used by Hope to match the caliper to the correct size rotor. It can get pretty complex, so I don't even try to remember the patterns. I've got the Mini brakes on my ride and love them. I'm sure you'll have good luck with them.

BTW, Mini's are normally used for XC riding. I see they are mounted to a fork with a 20 mil axle. What kind of bike did you get, and what kind of riding do you plan on doing? I'm sure some of the resident experts on this forum will chime in with some more Q&As about this subject.

Oh really ? I guess the Mini's will be insufficient, cause the bike is a Dare, about 45 lbs, with a SuperT fork, big 2.7 tires, etc. ...

yup - I have used minis on my cross country bikes for a few years, and they are sufficient for most of what I do. I have had problems with overheating on extended downhills. you would be well advised to got to a larger diameter multi-piston setup and sell the mini system

That's the C2 you got there and probably a closed system if your lever looks like this. If it doesn't it's an open system.
