    Hope hydraulics: searching for advice

well, so I finally ordered a set of hope monos for my 29er. going with the m4's in 185mm for the front (29er- more to stop) and a M2 165 for the rear.

why the m4s? spiffy deal and they look cool. (silly, I know)

so, I heard a rumor that these brakes are tops when bled properly. is this hope-specific or generic for disc brakes? Im planning on doing a serach, checking the FAQ and reading some reviews to see if that sheds some light.

thanks ahead of time for the input.

Bleeding is key especially if its a closed system. If possible go with an open system cause any air trapped will work its way out (but still neeed to bleed the caliper cause there are spots bubbles can hide there). Hope has some closed system brakes that are trickier to bleed and must be bled right to work. I'm running the '04 XT and love the feel of the brakes and the levers let you know when they are bled right will spring back to the stop after applied and have a very progressive feel yet short throw. Hope indeed are very stylish and expensive just make sure they set-up right cause any air in the system will make you wish for the mechanicals if its a pain to bleed. Have fun!

if you don't mind me asking---where did you get your deal on the Hope's. A friend has an older pair of mini's and loves them, so i may be in the market for some hope's.

Once you've bled them and are sure you have all the air out of them, but they still feel a tad soft.......... zip tie the levers(pulled to the bars) to the grips and leave overnight...... voila!! no more mushiness (this tip worked for me!)
