Hope C2 caliper with mini lever?

Hi guys just a quick (not that quick at all really ) question please.

The only hope caliper that i can fit to my Trek Y frame is a C2 no.1 caliper.
I managed to source one of these and also brand new pistons to go in em.
    My question is this.

Can i use a mini lever to make them work?
Internet searchs have returned a no due to the fact that the pistons in c2's are sprung to allow them to return back into the caliper body. In addition to this they are a closed system from the factory.

Heres where my idea comes in. If i remove the springs from within the pistons themselves, then technically speaking the caliper would have pistons in a similar style to that of an open brake and hence it would be a near as damn it open system.

    What do you lot think?
Any ponderings on this would be helpful

    Thanks Mike

No comment - I tend not to mess with the design of brakes, as it is the one thing I definitely want to work on my bike, everytime.

However, if you are keen to give it a shot, try contacting Hope. They might have some ideas - even after recommending that you not do it.
