    hayes hfx-9

Are these decent hydraulic brakes? I am a recreational rider and dont really do too much downhill, but are these a set of decent reliable brakes? Like I said, I dont need top of the line or the lightest model available, just a good all around set. Also, does anyone know what they retail for? Thanks guys.

    I like them

They have a nicer lever shape/feel than 03 mags. Not sure the lever shape is changing for 04. They are built burlier. heavier lever. bigger pin holding the lever (slop free longer). Lots of people bag on the the rubber plug for the bleed hole, but I have not had a problem.

the hfx 9 are made cheaper than the hayes mags. The cheaper quality comes out when your bike gets dumped and the levers pull through the inside super thin washers. Or some other part breaks. This happened twice to my friend. All in all they are good brakes with very good feel. If your not jumping or dropping off stuff, then the hayes hfx should last.
