i like mine a lot. they're reliable, and have a great feel to them. they dont have a ton of power though.. all though more than enough for xc riding.

the ridiculously cheap price kinda overshadows any downside of the brake

They dont have much modulation compared to other disc brakes (although the comparison is often to higher end models costing much more) but I think the power is pretty good. Lots of rental fleets at resorts run them and those bikes get hammered. With that sort of abuse the reputation of the nines is that they're reliable, easy to bleed and maintain plus spare parts are easy to get.

What else? The V6 rotors are really nice. They clear mud well and I've not had them do the pulsey-pulsey thing that some other rotors are known for. Also there's lots of pads with different compounds out there from Hayes and third parties which you can use to tweak the handling of the brakes.

Bang for your buck it's tough to go wrong with the Hayes Nines.

    Good stuff

I've had fewer problems with them than other brakes I've used.
