    Hayes 9 rotor clearances

I have a Hayes 9 6" brake on the rear of my Reign. Have done 3600kms on it and never had a problem until now. They have never been fiddled with since I purchased the bike and the pads still look ok. They are now continuosly rubbing on the rotor and no matter how much I align the caliper they continue to rub and there is hardly any clearance between the pads and rotor. I took the caliper off and used the Hayes spacer to push the pads right out again but they return to the same spacing once the brake is operated. What am I missing? It's hard yacker climbing the tank as it is without the psychological brake rubbing noise.

Your system is probably overfilled. Open up the bleed port at the lever, and then push the pistons back in, this will force any excess fluid out.
