    Hayes 9/mag question

So I'm trimming the hoses on a Hayes 9 and Hayes Mag. Do I really need a new compression bushing or can i recycle the old one.

    Thanks

If the hose was originally tigtened properly the bushing gets deformed pretty good. I used a tapered punch to try and get one to open up enough to re-install but that bushing hadn't been fully tightened.

I've done it in a pinch...or was that a crimp? Have you tried to get an old one off? Like keen points out, they're often crimped down pretty darned tightly. The tapered punch is a good tool to try to reshape the used fitting. The 2 or 3 times I've done it, I got no leaks. Those compression fittings are brass...I think...so they're fairly maleable.
