Fitting discs 1st time (marzocchi mz race)

Can anyone help me? I had a little smash last week & it seems that my magura rim brake has seen better days so I'm on the market for a front disc brake....
Problem is, I've never even looked at disc brakes before. It looks like most forks have 2 loops on the rear but mine has threads going into the fork. I'm aware that there's different mounts but I don't have a clue which one I require or if I need to buy a specific fit of brake?
    Thanks in advance.

Have a look at the pic of these bb7 at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Avid-Mechanica.../dp/B001E0PZWS

Notice that an adapter is attached to the caliper (adapter on left). You would use this adapter for IS mounts. You remove the adapter for post mount. It bolts directly to your fork.

Ah cool, are the 2 threads the same distance apart on all forks then?

Wicked.... Thanks guys, I'm going on ebay to bag a bargain brake setup. Does anyone rate any of the mechanical brakes or should I get hydraulic? I've got a nice set of mechanical levers I'd like to use & am using a nice pair of cane creeks on the back end

The Avid BB7 would rate as the best mechanical if you choose that path.
