    Elixir CR pad adjustment question

I just got some used Elixir CRs and am trying to get them set up properly. When I twist the red pad contact adjuster, the entire hose twists which only allows me to give it half a turn berfore the hose gets too twisted. The manual says that it will make two full turns (24 clicks). I can feel some clicking at first, but then it starts to feel kind of loose.

This doesn't seem right, but these brakes are new to me. So, what am I doing wrong?

You need to hold the compression fitting on the hose while you're turning the adjuster. The fit is tight and it doesn't spin freely. Make sure you look closely and understand what you're doing before you start. You don't want to loosen the compression fitting.

It will also be easier to turn if you pull the black conical cover off the brake master cylinder - it just pulls off onto the brake hose and then you snap it back into place. With it off you can readily keep the hose from twisting.

Thanks, I was a little more aggressive in holding the fitting and finally got it. I think it was just a little stuck, and I was trying to be too careful. I feel dumb that I can't figure out how to turn a knob, but it should be more intuitive. Why did they go away from the simple dial on the Juicy 7s?
