elixer brake lever position, vs shift lever

I have xt 10 sp shifters and elixer CR brakes.
My brake lever is mounted outside the shift levers. Thinking about moving the levers inboard. This will expose the shifters more.
Anyone else experiment with this?

I moved my Avid brake levers inboard of the shifters on my Scalpel 29er.Works well for me as I only use one or two fingers for braking.
