Do they make Stroker Carbon without carbon!? :)

I just bought a excellent condition stroker carbon from a guy on craigslist. So after I pay the guy walking to my car I notice that the lever is'nt carbon! I called him and he said the lever was the original lever.

Luckily I only paid 130. Were these supposed to have a carbon lever!?!?!

He said they came off his Konda 29r.

Well I just talked to him and he swears they are original.

I found the carbon levers on bluskycycling. Does anyone know if its fairly easy to swap the levers?

I really only tuned in to find out what the hell being jooped is, never heard that one.

So you go in person to buy a carbon lever and don't even check to see if you got a carbon lever before paying for it? Guess that goes right along with a Konda 29er...

How much weight are you going to save by going carbon levers? Ahh maybe 30 gr? I would just ride and if you break one replace it with a carbon lever.

If you mean they were off of the guys kona 29er than they are probably right because kona gets alot of different oem strokers and the spec sheet might have called them stroker carbons when they aren't the ones you'd buy off the shelf
I lubed my disc brakes because they squeaked.
Man was that fun to work out

Man I think I got JOOPED!

    Dear Fingersnag,

The term is either Dooped or Jobbed. Joop is a Dutch sir name.
If you do not know what carbon is maybe you got what you deserved!

The early version of the carbons came with an aluminum lever due to shortage of carbon levers. I read this recently in a review in dirt rag. I'd contact hayes and ask WTF. They may send you a free carbon lever since it was their fvck up. If not, I'd never buy hayes again. Plenty of people bought the stroker "carbon" with an aluminum lever. I'm guessing the oem market got most of them.

Yeah my choice of word was terrible, I admit.

    Konda was a typo.

I'm not going to replace the levers. There is'nt much of a different.

    THanks for the replies,
    Ryan

That would be duped, not dooped. But you weren't duped, you were just stupid.

As a mechanic in a shop sellings Konas, I can attest to the fact that of all the 08 Kona Kula 2-9s I've built, every "carbon stroker" has an aluminum lever. That goes for all other "carbon" strokers that I've seen in the 08 kona model lineup. I had the same question as you when we recieved them... wtf?

Since we're being all nit-picky here, it's actually Duped and Surname.

sounds like you got a good deal on them either way. i had a buddy that was asking $190 for the exact same set of brakes. at least you didnt get completely POOPED by paying that much for them.

so why start out the post saying that you got screwed over and then turn around and say you got an awesome deal and the seller was more than willing to work with you? so which one was it?

I was mainly concerned in if they even made the stroker carbon without the carbon lever. I knew I got a great deal even if they did'nt have the carbon lever. I just did'nt want to be lied to.

Edit: I never said I got screwed over. I was more worried if I got screwed out of some levers.

The big stamp that says Carbon on top.

I would guess that if it doesn't SAY carbon, and doesn't have a carbon lever, chances are about 99.9% that it isn't the stroker carbon.

But I'm just throwing out numbers. There are no facts to back up my statistics.

    Does it have ordinary levers?
